It’s Valentine’s Day!

A lot of people hate Valentine’s Day and I totally get it. Honestly, I’m married and I still don’t really care for Valentine’s Day. I don’t like the idea of being forced to do nice things because of the date. What’s so special about giving flowers when you’re expected to give flowers? Don’t even get me started on the price gouging! Why should I buy flowers when they are at their peak price? Wouldn’t it be nicer to get the same flowers at an unknown date for a lower price? I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong about this. Maybe having dinner at a crowded restaurant is more ideal than having dinner the very next day. Maybe I’m the only person in the world who actually enjoys eating conversation hearts. Maybe I have no business discussing this. But then again… I’ve written a love song. Doesn’t that make me an expert? I wrote Dreams We Had in stages. The music for the verses was written WAY back in 2009. I later wrote the music for the chorus in 2013. I wasn’t planning on connecting them at that point, but I knew that I wanted that chorus to be a love song. In fact, I was planning on using it to propose to my wife, but I didn’t meet the deadline! So I waitied until the week after our wedding in 2014 to connect the two songs, add lyrics, and add a bridge! The song was finally complete! Kristen and I recorded an acoustic version of Dreams We Had for Valentine’s Day 2015. We later recorded the studio version for my latest album Cherry Springs. Take a listen to the album version here:
