Allen Park: Revisited Update!

Tracking for “Allen Park: Revisited” has already begun! I’ve finished recording new vocals for five songs. Alone and Picking Daisies are pretty close to the original vision as far as song structure is concerned. I’ve rewritten some harmonies for the latter, fixing some of the unintentional dissonance that came from inexperience. The other three songs have seen more drastic changes. These tracks have new lyrics and thus new titles. The first track is now known simply as “Allen Park” and aside from the new lyrics, sounds pretty much the same as it did back in 2012. The song formerly known as “White Flag” will now be called “Mandela Effect” and is musically identical to its predecessor. The last song in this batch was formerly known as “Clear Intentions” and will now be filed under “Alibi.” I rerecorded all the vocals, but the backing track remains unaltered. I’m beyond happy with the lyrical revisions. I feel that the lyrics now add to the music, rather than take away from it, as I believe they did before. I think you’ll agree and that you’ll be content with the cleaner vocal tracks. It’s funny how excited I am about this project. A lot of it is listening back and saying “What was I thinking?” But sometimes I hear things that surprise me. Sometimes I am genuinely impressed by some of the things I wrote back then and it’s exciting to be able to refine those elements and present them in a way that I wasn’t able to the first time around. I made a lot of mistakes during the original recording sessions and now I have the chance to apply what I’ve learned since then to fix those mistakes.
